Objective To test the reliability,validity and applicability of the revised version of Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory(MDSI- C) among Chinese drivers. Methods 655 drivers from 20 major cities participated and completed the MDSI in two studies. Results The final version of MDSI- C consisted of 24 items,which was divided into 5 factors. The factors' ratio of cumulative contribution was 54. 27 %,indicating that it had good construct validity. Pearson correlations between the factors and the whole inventory was from 0. 60 to 0. 77,all ps 0. 001. The Cronbach's α of the whole inventory was 0. 86,and 0. 82,0. 75,0. 73,0. 72,0. 70 for the factors,respectively. In addition,other results from the drivers,who have records of traffic violations,showed that the MDSI- C suited for chinese drivers well. Conclusion Both the reliability and validity of MDSI- C met the criteria of psychometrics,and it can be used as a tool to assess Chinese drivers' driving styles in the future researches.
