Objective To test the reliability, validity and applicability of the revised version of Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory(MDSI- C) among Chinese drivers. Methods 655 drivers from 20 major cities participated and completed the MDSI in two studies. Results The final version of MDSI- C consisted of 24 items, which was divided into 5 factors. The factors' ratio of cumulative contribution was 54. 27 %,indicating that it had good construct validity. Pearson correlations between the factors and the whole inventory was from 0. 60 to 0. 77,all ps 0. 001. The Cronbach's α of the whole inventory was 0. 86,and 0. 82,0. 75,0. 73,0. 72,0. 70 for the factors, respectively. In addition, other results from the drivers, who have records of traffic violations, showed that the MDSI- C suited for chinese drivers well. Conclusion Both the reliability and validity of MDSI- C met the criteria of psychometrics, and it can be used as a tool to assess Chinese drivers' driving styles in the future researches.
