Abstract
Remote monitoring of cardiac physiologic parameters, including heart rhythm and volume status, is playing an increasingly important role in the routine management of cardiac patients. This approach has the potential to provide significant cost and time savings to health care providers while reducing time for diagnosis and treatment of patients. It also has the ability to significantly enhance patient convenience by minimizing office visits. Integration of routine cardiac health parameters, such as blood pressure and daily weight, along with the possibility of monitoring serious changes, such as ST segment deviation, may make rapid, comprehensive cardiac care a reality in the near future.
