Abstract
In the light of the theory of ESP,this article studies the rationale for making college English teachers competent ESP practitioners who are able to accommodate the specific needs of students in target situation.It points out that modern information technology opens an effective way to facilitate the transition from EGP teachers to ESP practitioners. Based on the case study of Medical Device English course,it proposes that a new teaching model integrating with information technology should be constructed in ESP courses.
