Abstract
Objective To discuss the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of pheochromocytoma in children. Methods The clinical manifestations , pathological characters and operative progress of 6 cases (11 tumors ) with pheochromocytoma were reviewed retrospectively. Of them, 4 were simple, 2 were multiple . The presentations were serious hypertension (6) and hypertensive encephalopathy (2). Results All of them underwent total tumor removal with average blood losing of 360 ml.The mean volume of blood transfusion during operation was 1 033 ml. All cases were discharged after operation. Conclusion The clinical characters of pheochromocytoma in children are multiple, paroxysmal headache, hypertensive visual disturbance and encephalopathy. A rapid and adequate fluid and blood transfusion, and myocardial damage prevention are important to the management of perioperatve period.
