Abstract
Objective To study the curative and preventive effects of SanXueMingMu tablet on traumatic proliferative vitreoretinopathy(tPVR)in rabbits.Methods Forty rabbits were selected randomly from 50 rabbits and induced to tPVR models,then divided into four groups:the first group was treated with SanXueMingMu tablet,the second with TaoHongSiWuTang,the third with ZhuLingSan and the model group.The rest 10 rabbits were set as the blank control group.After the rabbits had been fed and administrated for a month,the pathologic changes,the levels of basic fibroblasts growth factors (bFGF),epidermal growth factor (EGF) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1(ICAM-1) in vitreous were observed respectively.Results Compared with model group,the contents of bFGF、EGF and ICAM-1 were decreased significantly in SanXueMingMu tablet group(P0.01).There was no significant change when compared with the content of EGF in blank group(P0.05),while the levels of bFGF were higher than those of blank group (P0.05).The levels of bFGF、EGF and ICAM-1 in SanXueMingMu tablet group were lower than those in TaoHongSiWuTang and ZhuLingSan group.The PVR in SanXueMingMu tablet group was lighter than that in model group、TaoHongSiWuTang and ZhuLingSan group,respectively.Conclusion SanXueMingMu tablet could inhibit and cure the formation and development of traumatic PVR by decreasing the levels of bFGF、EGF and ICAM-1.
