Abstract
ConclusionIn conclusion, vitamin A plays a central role in the regulation of both B-cell and T-cell function acting through gene activation by stimulating transcriptional activity. Correction of vitamin A deficiency, wherever it is prevalent, through immunological and other mechanisms, reduces severity of several important infections. The safety of massive dose vitamin A administration to very young infants with normal vitamin A status must be well established, given some though not substantial evidence of possible effects similar to vitamin A deficiency.
