Abstract
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately affects the Persons with Disabilities(PwD) both directly and indirectly. The economic shocks create a health-wealth trade off, which is not Pareto optimal and exacerbates the well being of PwDs. The equitable development outcomes obligates disability inclusive strategies for persons with locomotor, visual and hearing impairment to challenge the information inaccessibility, medical bias and the lack of social insurance. Objective: An enquiry to ascertain the prevalence and regional disparities of disability in Haryana. Sample : A sample of 1733 household in the rural sector and 923 households in the urban sector in Haryana, surveyed in NSS 76th round, has been used. Design: The secondary data sources surveyed on the basis of stratified two stage design , followed by comparative statistical analysis. Tools : Manual tabulation of linear values and comparative statistical inferences from pie-charts, line graphs and column graphs of logarithmic values to account for skewness. Results: The findings of study derive the most vulnerable groups and suggests assistive inclusion strategies. Conclusion: This study substantiates the need for peer support systems and innovative policy designs to recuperate and rehabilitate the most vulnerable sections of the society against the socio-economic fall out of the global pandemic.
