Objective To quantitatively analyze essential oil in Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum(Maxim.)Kitag.produced in different places and seasons,and to quantitatively analyze methyleugenol by GC.Methods The gas chromatographic conditions included column DB-17,supporting gas of N_2 and FID detector.Results The quantity of essential oil in Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum(Maxim.)Kitag.produced in different places were detected and met the requirement of the CHP.The contents of methyleugenol were different in different places.The quantity of essential oil in Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum(Maxim.)Kitag.was the richest in September,and the same result was obtained for methyleugenol.As a result,September is the best time for the collection of Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum(Maxim.)Kitag.Conclusions The contents of essential oil and methyleugenol should be taken as a standard for the evaluation of the quantity of Asarum heterotropoides Fr.Schmidt var.mandshuricum(Maxim.)Kitag.and the determination of its collecting time.
