The results show: ( 1 ) YCW is rich in biodiversity with unique features in climate, geology, oceanography, ecology and human activities; ( 2 ) Landscape ecosystems' spatial structure/pattern corresponds with four geomorphologic and sedimentary zones; ( 3 ) Landscape pattern is characterized by dynamic zonal landscape heterogeneity and high/low landscape contrast.

The landscape ecosystems of Yancheng Coastal Wetlands (YCW) are of paramount importance and representativeness. Based on field observation and references analysis, landscape ecological system classification of YCW is made, and the hydrological and thermal dynamics, spatial structure, pattern, biodiversity of landscape ecosystem are detailed.
