We interpret and analyze the spectral redshifts and broadenings of the observed localized surface plasmon peaks, reported in the literature, as one goes from the far-zone to the near-field region. We show that they are explained as due to the evanescent waves of the emitted field. Also, they are universal, and hence, constitute general laws.
