Abstract

This paper presents a theoretical and numerical investigation of the photoelectron sheath for a large planar structure in the solar wind. The plasma interaction and the resulting photoelectron sheath are studied using 3-D full particle PIC model simulations with the real ion to electron mass ratio. A one-dimensional analytical solution is also developed which compares well with PIC results.
