A millimetre-wave tapered slot antenna (TSA) that employs a conductor strip grating on both sides of the substrate is presented. The technique reduces the main beam splitting or high side-lobe levels that are otherwise encountered when using thick and high permittivity substrates for a TSA. The improvement that is obtained is demonstrated both in simulation and with measurement results at 35 GHz.
