This paper combines the technology of semisolid forming and micro-forming to discuss the micro-formability of semisolid alloy. The best experimenting parameter is given after using Taguchi experiment for micro-forward-extrusion, which is 1mm for diameter, 570℃ for temperature and 25 for extrusion rate. Temperature, extrusion rate and extrusion diameter are the primary factors that affect the Maximum Unit-forming Load(MUL).The MUL curve is just like a line in semisolid forming while it is just like a parabola in hot forming; The value of MUL increases with the extrusion rate and decreases with the extrusion diameter. Size-effect does exist during micro-extrusion, however, it can be decreased in semisolid forming. The grain is deformed and becomes larger smaller after semisolid forward-extrusion due to dynamic re-crystallization. The temperature and extrusion diameter have little to do with the microstructure during semisolid forming.
