This paper analyzes the definition and goal of "harmony",the ideal principle of "harmonious society" and its dimension of framework from the perspective of Western philosophy in order to show that the notion of "harmony" and pursuit for "harmonious society" also exist in Western philosophy and culture,and this could provide us with important lessons.

Abstract

The issues of "harmony" and "harmonious society" have been mostly approached from traditional Chinese culture.This paper analyzes the definition and goal of "harmony",the ideal principle of "harmonious society" and its dimension of framework from the perspective of Western philosophy in order to show that the notion of "harmony" and pursuit for "harmonious society" also exist in Western philosophy and culture,and this could provide us with important lessons.
