Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the e"ectiveness of a program of cognitive stimulation in the elderly with mild cognitive impairment. Method: A quasi-experimental, quanti!ed, design with pre and post-test and control group. #e TUVEZJOWPMWFEFMEFSMZXJUI�.$*�����JODMVEFEJOUIFFY- perimental group, and 16 included in the control group. #e experimental group participated in a program of cognitive stimulation. Results: #e main results showed that, a$er evaluation of pre and post-test in the experi - mental group, and between the post-test both groups, an improvement in orientation, short-term memory, language and visual-space guidance. #ere were no sub - stantial changes in activities of instrumental and daily living. Great improvement was veri!ed in the experi - mental group regarding the use of memory strategies, mainly the external ones, as well an improvement in face- name association. Conclusions: #e implementa - tion of a cognitive stimulation program is essential in people with mild cognitive impairment in order to en- hance cognition, improve the autonomy and minimize the impact of de!cits.
