A survey on the staff's competence in starred hotels has been carried out. The author analyses the gathered data and analyzes them in the aspect of the characteristics of demographic variables,and finds that there is no apparent differences in gender,training,age and working life,while there exists apparent differences in educational background and major. In these five dimensions,working affection is apparently different in gender,educational background,major and working life;self-developing ability is apparently different in educational background and major;service skills differ a lot in training,educational background and major;personal characteristics and working attitude are both apparently different in educational background and major.
