Abstract
Dear Editor: I read the recent publication by Girard et al with a great interest. The data from this report is useful in clinical practice. However, there are many concerns on the data. The basis for the conclusion that “Type 1 TR and Type 2 TR were identified to be two significantly different manifestations of TR, with a strong association between Type 1 TR and periodontal disease [1]” is of interest. First, as the author noted, the data represents only a small number of cats and might not be well generalized to general population. Second, there are several underlying pathological conditions that can lead to periodontal disorders. These factors have not been completely ruled out in this study. Also, were the subjects in this work actually healthy cats?
