Abstract
Although the big bang theory has troubles, it obviously still has considerable support. The heart of the theory, namely the idea that the universe began as a hot explosion, seems to be intact. Still, it is possible that the evidence against it will eventually become so great that we will have to abandon it. If this happens we will obviously have to take a serious look at the rival theories. And there are several of them. Most have only a few supporters at present, but they are worth looking at.
The Big Bang theory has its problems, but it still has considerable support, and if the evidence against it becomes strong enough, we may have to consider rival theories.
