Abstract One-dimensional nucleon-meson cascade calculations have been carried out for the cases of 10- and 19.2-GeV/ c protons incident on steel. The star density and track intensity from the 19.2-GeV/ c beam and the track intensity from the 10-GeV/ c beam are compared with experimental values. In general, the calculated star density is higher than the experimental values and the calculated track intensities are lower than the experimental values.
