Teaching writing is an important aspect of teaching language skills to undergraduate engineering students. Due to the pandemic it has been very difficult to teach the step by step teaching of writing. This paper establishes the importance of use of online apps namely Mentimeter and Google Docs for teaching writing and also evaluation. The survey was carried out using Google Forms, another online app. Post teaching 106 students took the survey and the results clearly establishes the usefulness of these tools in teaching writing and further also establishes the usefulness of these apps in collaborative writing.
