Abstract
It is important to discuss the concept of applied proportion in western and Chinese literary theories.It may help to offer the new and special perspectives,widen the study horizons,develop the thinking space,and inherit the cultural legacy.The similarities of the applies proportion in western and Chinese literary theories are the qualities of being traditional,precise,aesthetic,and methodological.The differences are that Chinese literary theories stress human feelings,that is to say,the containment of affection and moral character,and that western literary theories emphasize innate laws of things,that is to say,the examination of form and structure.The similarities and differences are determined by the discipline quality of literature and mathematics,the artistic tradition,thinking habits,national psychology,and cultural preference of the western and China.Thus,one can catch a glimpse of the similarities and differences of western and Chinese literary theories.
