Oil companies always seek a better understanding of the hydrocarbon generation and migration process that filled their reservoirs with oil and gas. Not only does it provide a better insight to their production history, it may also set them on the track to allied oil stringers and accumulations within the same basin. A proper perception of the whole process, however, requires advanced tools and demands highly detailed and accurate input data regarding geologic setting, petro-physics and subsurface geometry. This is where the traditionally separated realms of gea-chemistry, pets-physics, fluid and energy flow simulation and geometric subsurface modelling need to be brought together in a tightly integrated framework.
