Abstract

Inspiration I pulled the plastic wrapper off my new cassette tape and proceeded to listen to some of the most inspiring music I had heard in a long time. The compositions were not new. You might even call them ancient. A soprano duet sang high, clear, simple melodies from France, Germany, England, and the Americas. Then I heard "Ancient Mother"-a melody so pure and full of melancholy-strummed out in notes that filled my room. Then the vocal entered:
