Strength of Materials
Abstract
Conclusions1.It was shown that the reliability of the results of investigations of the design strength of ceramics can be ensured only if such peculiarities of this class of materials as limited deformability, a tendency to microrupture, sensitivity to stress concentrations, etc. are taken into account.2.Methods and experimental installations for investigating the strength of materials with low deformability under mechanical and thermal loading, devised at the Institute of Strength Problems, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, were approved, and it was shown that it is expedient to use them in tests of ceramic materials intended for the production of components of the through-flow part of gas-turbine engines.3.The strength, deformability, elasticity, crack resistance, and thermal resistance of aluminum nitride base and silicon nitride base ceramic materials were investigated. It was established that the tested silicon nitride and structural ceramic material by its physicomechanical characteristics corresponds to analogous foreign materials intended for use in the production of model gas-turbine engines.
