Abstract
The effects of non-uniform sampling on the reconstruction of transducer surface vibration patterns were investigated using Fourier optical methods. Random probe positional “jitter” was simulated for sound fields emitted by a square source, with ka = 2π and ka = 8π, where k is the wavenumber and a is the side length of the source. In both cases, non-uniform sampling introduces noise into the system which leads to a degradation of the source reconstruction. This was especially apparent in the former case. A simple corrective measure, using optimal (Wiener) filtering, was also employed successfully.
