Abstract
The word "moon" often appears in literary works because the changes of its phases make it a mystery.It contains abundant cultural messages and conveys specific cultural meanings in different cultural backgrounds.In Chinese literary works,it stands for the female.In contrast,it is a male god in Japanese culture.The contrast is influenced by culture,social feature and geography.
