Abstract
Planet Earth, our home, is but a fragment within one of the hundreds of millions of galaxies which swirl about in the universe. Earth is one of nine planets orbiting our sun, itself only one of billions of stars in the Milky Way. The star nearest to our sun, Proxima Centauri, floats 40 trillion miles away, its faint light finally reaching us four years after its departure.
