Abstract
The paper derives a numerically efficient algorithm to predict the current harmonics from multiple hysteresis current-controlled PV generators in residential applications. The modeling approach starts by deriving the interdependent switching frequency resulting from the coupling between the PV line currents. Subsequently, using the analogue frequency modulation theorem, the harmonic line current is closely approximated by a frequency-modulated sinusoid. The system and controller parameters are used to compute the harmonic spectrum through a Bessel function array and, therefore, reduce the simulation time significantly. The model is also extended to predict the harmonics of the PV generators when the system voltage is distorted, which is useful for analyzing harmonic interactions between the inverters and the utility grid. MATLAB\Simulink© simulations on Photovoltaic residential units are used to validate the proposed models.
