Abstract
Recent findings are summarized on neuropsychological deficits among alcoholics, recovery of neuropsychological functioning, and the relationships between neuropsychological functioning and the outcomes of alcoholism treatment. It is suggested that alcoholism treatment programs be modified for neuropsychologically impaired patients. Specific recommendations are made for modified treatment approaches, as well as for research studies in the area of treatment for neuropsychologically impaired alcoholics.
