Abstract
Lorazepam (Ativan, Almazine) is a widely used benzodiazepine which has now been available for over 10 years.1 Its anxiolytic, sedative and hypnotic properties resemble those of other benzodiazepines,2 but its pharmacokinetic properties differ in ways which affect its clinical use.
