Abstract
In the article we determine the level of depression by the questionnaire method (using the CAS test battery) and by the psychophysiological method of processing EEG waves. We analyzed the correlations between the EEG waves (delta, theta, alpha and beta) as well as the relationships between the EEG waves from AF3 and AF4 sensors. Results previously obtained by other researchers are confirmed and we bring news regarding the direction and intensity of the relationship between EEG wave types and depression level. Advances in technology have made the EEG a widely used tool for non-invasive studies of neurological disorders, including depression. In this study we used Electroencephalogram (EEG) to determine measurable or quantifiable characteristics, used for diagnosis or determining treatment progress. The article formulates the conclusions obtained by analyzing the results of 24 subjects who answered the DAS depression questionnaire and were scanned with Emotiv EPOC X with 14 Sensors.
EEG wave types show a stronger relationship with depression levels than questionnaires, providing a more accurate diagnosis and treatment progress assessment.
