Gardenia yellow was extracted with water,and linen fabrics were dyed with the extracting agent.The best conditions for gardenia yellow extraction and the direct dyeing process were determined through experiments.In order to improve gardenia yellow's dye-uptake and color fastness on linen fabrics,the fabrics were treated with dye-fixing agent NMR-1 instead of the traditional mordant dyeing.It investigated the main factors affecting the fixation.Finally,the optimal conditions of the fixing process were obtained.The results showed that under the optimal conditions,treatment of dye-fixing agent NMR-1 can improve linen fabrics' dyeing behavior.The dyeing results were better than that of mordant dyeing.
