
 The plots, 68 × 68 ft, were in a 4-yr-old stand of'Cimarron' alfalfa. All treatments and the untreated control were replicated 3 times in a randomized block design. Sprays were mixed to apply the proper rates in 20 gal total vol/acre. Treatments were applied 10 Jun with a low pressure, low volume Hahn field sprayer equipped with 21 stainless steel 8003 Teejet nozzles and operated at 35 psi. A standard treatment of Cygon 4 EC was applied at the rate of 0.25 lb (AI)/acre. PLH population densities were determined 3, 9, 11, 14, and 18 DAT by collecting 20 sweeps from each plot with a standard 15-inch-diam sweep net.

Cygon 4 EC effectively reduced potato leafhopper population densities in alfalfa, with a maximum of 0.25 lb AI/acre, compared to the untreated control.
