Abstract

Glycidyl laurate was prepared by laurate as raw material through saponification,esterification etc.Orthogonal design was used to study the effects of materials ratio,catalyst dose,reaction time,reaction temperature on esterification.The reaction was composed of two steps.The optimal reaction condition for esterification was: toluene as solvent,n(epichlorohydrin)/n(sodium laurate)=2∶1,reaction at 100℃ for 3 h,the dose of phase transfer catalyst TBAB was 5% of sodium laurate.The achieved product yield was higher than 95%.The final product is some kind of light fulvous liquid,undissolvable in water while dissolvable in organic solvent such as absolute alcohol,chloroform.Glycidyl laurate is an important intermediate for synthesizing other surfactant.The study on its preparation is of significance for extensive application.
