Abstract
In this work, the optical pulse propagation and its distortion due to dispersion properties of the quasi-periodic structures and especially Fibonacci-class is investigated. Based on TMM method, we show that the Fibonacci-class quasi-periodic structures have large dispersion coefficients respect to periodic structures and in small length (versus periodic case) destroy the incident pulse shape. In this paper, dispersion characteristics numerically simulated and the output power is calculated. Using output power, we can obtain distortion limit due to dispersion and finally determine the maximum number of layers in which can be used with acceptable distortion. Also, we demonstrate the second order (D) and third order (B) dispersion coefficients for 1.55 /spl mu/m graphically for designing the dispersion compensation networks.
