Abstract
The design of automatic control systems requires the correct and complete execution of several design steps or phases, in order to achieve a reliable and economic system performance corresponding to the system requirements. These design phases are introduced irrespective of possible computer support. The evaluation of some existing computerized design tools for automatic control systems shows their incompletenes regarding all the design phases or the formulation of real-time conditions. Therefore this paper concludes by giving some hints for the realization of integrated, computer supported design systems with uniform and user adapted application interfaces.
