Presents optical reflectivity spectra for several 3d transition-metal intercalates of the group-Va transition-metal dichalcogenides. They discuss these results with reference to other optical and transport data for such materials. They show that there exists a correlation between certain features of the reflectivity spectra and the particular 3d transition-metal intercalate in a given host material. Similar correlations have previously been found for other physical properties, which have been interpreted as indicating an important interaction in these materials between the conduction electrons and the localised electrons on the 3d transition-metal ions.
