As the rapid development of UAV technology, direct observation of typhoons by the high-altitude and long-endurance UAVs equipped with the releasing dropsondes system and cloud radar can greatly improve the level of research and forecast on typhoons. It is also a new direction and new subject for marine meteorological detection and research. This paper elaborates on how to use UAV for meteorological detection from various aspects such as selection of UAV type, research and development of the detection system, detection process establishment, route planning and safety risk management and control, etc. It also introduces the application of related technologies in the precise and three-dimensional detection test of the peripheral cloud system around the "Sinlaku" typhoon by the Wing Loong-10 UAV in 2020, which can provide a useful reference for similar detection research by UAV in the future.
