A similarity model of the hydrodynamics of longitudinally pumping xray lasers was set up. The calculations show that (1) The pedestal of the longitudinal pumping pulse play an important role in the Ni-like ionization state (2) The absorption of longitudinally pumping laser in the plasma result in the asymmetry of the temperature and the density so that the gain length of x-ray laser is limited. (3) It is an effective method to choose the proper element of which the required density is low in the gain region.
