Abstract
A quick account is given of how the solar system fits into the rest of the known universe. The Sun is but one star in a vast galaxy. There are billions of such galaxies. We know that they are expanding, and can infer that the universe is evolving. We are beginning to disover that planets are common in our galaxy.
