Abstract
Introduction Treatment of chronic tension-type headache generally focuses on relaxation of the muscles of the head and neck by means of medications and/or physical therapy. Also, a great variety of psychological treatments are regularly applied, such as biofeedback EMG training and progressive muscular relaxation. Hypnotherapy can be added to these psychological treatments of chronic tension-type headache as hypnosis is often associated with muscular relaxation. In this paper we report on the efficacy of a special hypnotherapy technique in the treatment of chronic tension-type headache.
