Abstract

An unconstrained joint optimization method for asymmetric FIR digital filter design using the harmonic search algorithm is presented. Lowpass and bandpass digital filter examples are used to demonstrate the design procedure. Design results indicate that the passband and stopband magnitude errors and the passband group delay error can be minimized effectively using the harmonic search algorithm.
