Abstract A new set-up for investigating the electrochemical stability of solid ionic conductors is described. The counter electrode and the working electrode are obtained by gold deposition and the reference electrode by a AgAg 3 SI mixture in contact with the solid electrolyte. Results obtained on glasses in the SiO 2 Li 2 OLi 2 SO 4 system are presented. The electrochemical stability range of these glasses is limited by the redox couples Li + Li and O 2 O 2− . Values of between 4 and 5V with a 0.02mA cm −2 current can be estimated.
