Abstract
For the problem that gradient-based algorithms cannot well guarantee the richness of the information of an image, a new wavelet-based image fusion method was proposed. The method uses gradient for decision-making when the high-frequency coefficient of the source image varies substantially and uses energy for decision-making when the high-frequency coefficient changes moderately, and consequently the method can keep an eye on both the changes in the image's high-frequency component and the richness of the high-frequency component. Experiments indicate that the algorithm enhanced the richness of the image's information while maintaining the definition of the image.
