Abstract
The crystal and molecular structure of 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine has been determined by x-ray diflraction methods. The most interesting feature of the structure is an unusually short intermolecular distance between the iodine and oxygen of a carbonyl group; this type of bonding may be the molecular basis for the antiviral activity. a different crystal structure.
Study Snapshot
5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine's antiviral activity may be based on its unusually short intermolecular distance between iodine and oxygen, which may explain its unique crystal structure.
