Abstract
RESUMO: A arte e a cultura popular sempre estiveram muito presentes na historia do povo brasileiro e, portanto, saber valoriza-las e essencial. Dessa forma, o intuito desta pesquisa e apresentar a literatura de cordel como parte da cultura popular, rica em tradicao e com seu proprio repertorio de formas, temas, valores e regras de composicao. Para alem de simples folhetos vendidos em feiras, principalmente na regiao Nordeste, essa literatura tem como pano de fundo a cultura popular nordestina e carrega consigo toda a identidade sertaneja. Nao obstante, mesmo sendo uma poesia do povo, possui dialogos com a cultura erudita e com a cultura de massa, cujas interseccoes esta pesquisa procurara evidenciar com a analise da adaptacao para cordel do romance Memorias postumas de Bras Cubas, de Machado de Assis. ABSTRACT: The history of the Brazilian people has always been full of art and popular culture and, for this reason, it is completely essential knowing how to value them. With this research we intent to present the Cordel Literature belonging to the popular culture, rich in tradition with its own repertory of forms, themes, values and composition rules. As simple booklets sold at fairs, mainly in the Northeast region, this literature has as its background the northeastern popular culture and carries with it the whole backcountry identity. Even if it is a poetry of the people, it also has dialogues and intersections with the Mass and Erudite Brazilian culture, which this one will be more emphasized with the analysis of an adaptation for cordel of the novel Memorias postumas de Bras Cubas, by Machado de Assis.
