Abstract
The mechanism of the oxidative polymerization of diphenyl disulfide by 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) in the presence of trifluoromethane sulfonic acid is investigated. It is considered that the process consists of four elementary reactions: 1) formation of charge transfer complex between monomer and DDQ; 2) oxidative reaction; 3) formation of sulfonium cation from cation radical; and 4) electrophilic substitution
Oxidative polymerization of diphenyl disulfide with DDQ in the presence of trifluoromethane sulfonic acid involves four elementary reactions: charge transfer complex formation, oxidative reaction, sulfonium cation formation, and electrophilic substitution.
