In this paper, the synthesis routes of several 3-methylpyridine derivates such as 2-chloro-5-chloromethylpyridine , 2 -chloro-5-trifluomethyl pyridine , 2,3-dichloro-5-trifluomethylpyridine were discussed . Their applica-tion as the intermediates of pesticide were discribed . And the development trend of nicotine pesticide was put forward.

3-methylpyridine derivates show potential as intermediates in nicotine-based pesticides, with nicotine showing a promising development trend.
