Abstract
1. Rats dosed with 1-bromopentane excrete in addition to pentylmercapturic acid, 2- and 3-hydroxypentylmercapturic acids, largely in the form of their sulphate esters; traces of 4-hydroxypentylmercapturic acid are also excreted.2. 4-Carboxybutylmercapturic acid is a metabolite of 1-bromopentane in the rat.3. The amounts of metabolites excreted by rats dosed with 1-bromopentane have been determined and confirmed by the administration of [1-14C]-1-bromopentane.
Rats dosed with 1-bromopentane excrete 2- and 3-hydroxypentylmercapturic acids, 4-carboxybutylmercapturic acid, and 4-hydroxypentylmercapturic acid as metabolites.
