Abstract
The course of the hydrogenation of 1,2-di-tert.butylbenzene under the influence of rhodium and platinum catalysts has been investigated. Cis- and trans-1,2-di-tert.butylcyclohexane and the intermediate product 2,3-di-tert.-butylcyclohexene always appearing in the hydrogenations have been isolated and characterized. The rate of hydrogenation of 1,2-di-tert.butylbenzene has been compared with that of benzene and that of some 1,2-dialkylbenzenes.
Hydrogenation of 1,2-di-tert.butylbenzene on rhodium and platinum catalysts produces cis- and trans-1,2-di-tert.butylcyclohexane and the intermediate product 2,3-di-tert.-butyl
